CQI Meetings overview

Continuous Quality Improvement, also called CQI, meetings are a tool that enables staff to review events reported in a chosen time period such as the past month or past quarter and perform a collaborative analysis in order to identify lessons learned and improve patient safety.

Accessing CQI Meetings

Users can access the continuous quality improvement meetings view by clicking on the CQI meetings button. When you are ready to begin a meeting, click on the record new meeting button.

Create - Meeting Title

Users can enter a meeting title. This can include the date or other information that aligns to the organization's needs.

The Events Period field determines which events will be included in the CQI meeting for analysis.

Selecting "Custom" will allow users to select a custom date range for which events should be included in the CQI meeting.

The Facility selection field determines the facility for which events will be included in the CQI meeting.

Create - Setup

The Event Type selection field determines the types of events that will be included in the CQI meeting such as good catches or incidents. Click the create button to start a new CQI meeting.

Setup - Overview

The Setup Stage displays the previous selections and the events included based on those selections. The selections can be adjusted as needed.

Click the meeting date selector to choose the desired date for your CQI meeting.

Setup - Participants

Add participants to the meeting using the participants field. Staff names from your organization will be suggested, but you can add other participants too. For each participant, you can indicate if the participants are present or absent using the toggle.

Click the next button at the top when you are ready to initiate the meeting and to proceed to the discuss section.

In the discuss phase all of the events that match the previously selected inclusion criteria will be displayed.

Discuss - Insights

Using the insights toggle, you can see the analytics for the selected events including contributing factors categories, actions and others.

From the Events view, notes can be added to individual cases. These can include what was discussed or findings from the post-event workup.

Click "add note" to save your entered comments to the meeting record.

Notes added for individual cases will also appear in the notes section on the right hand side. It is best practice to review all events and add notes to each as well as adding commentary to the sections labeled Success Story, Learning Points, Safety Improvements and Safety Alert Responses.

Once the events have been reviewed by the team, and relevant notes added, click next to move forward to the Review step of the CQI meeting.

The Review section provides a summary of the meeting discussion in a printable PDF.

The Safety Priorities field allows you to document your organizations priorities ahead of the next scheduled CQI meeting

You can select a date for the next CQI meeting using the date picker.

Complete Meeting

Click the complete button to finalize your CQI meeting.

Click yes, complete to confirm and preserve your CQI meeting documentation securely.
